 Organic Indoor Herb Garden

Organic Herb Gardens in the last couple years have become quite popular. These break down into two types, the indoor herb garden, and the outdoor herb garden.

For those that have lots of land, the Organic Outdoor Herb Garden may be just what the doctor ordered. But for those living in apartments, or have trouble getting around, the Organic Indoor Herb Garden may be just the ticket.

The advantage of growing herbs indoors is that you can choose some of the smaller herbs, and they will grow quite well in pots that are located on your windowsills in your kitchen, living room or even your bedroom.

For the larger herbs, like Bay, Rosemary and Lavender you can grow in larger pots in the corner of a room. The larger plants will provide beautiful green lush foliage right in your house, with a side advantage you can trim a few leaves off and use them for your cooking or perfuming your house.

Some people who have an outside herb garden also keeps one inside, for the above mentioned reasons. Another reason that in the middle of the winter or on a rainy day you can just trim off a few leaves for your favorite dish, and never have to go outside in the rotten weather.

Some herbs such as mint can become a very invasive plant. If not careful it will try to take over your outdoor herb garden. The advantage of growing it indoors in a pot is that you can keep a close eye on the mint plant, where it will give you no problem, because it is subject to the size of the pot that it is growing in.

Growing herb plants inside will give your house a fresh natural fragrance. Unlike the scents that you buy from a grocery store, these are all natural essential oils and contain no chemicals. You will be able to choose different locations for different herbs.

Some prefer the damper atmosphere of the bathroom, while some like to be warm, and some really prefer cooler spots in some shade. Lavender is mostly found traditionally around were clothes are stored and also bedrooms.

Another advantage of having herbs growing inside your house is that you see them every day, so this means you are forced to take care of them because you see them all the time. If you have children this would be a good time to give them chores of watering and looking after the plants. Also having the herbs so close at hand you might try different recipes using your different herbs more often.

Nothing could be easier seeing how your growing the plants inside would be to go organic. None of the pests or airborne diseases that can plague your outdoor garden plants would not be found in the house.

So it's a simple task of just buying organic herb seeds and potting soil, make sure you don't use any chemical fertilizers, and there you have an organic indoor herb garden.
